Wednesday

Wednesday on a Thursday!
I am partcipating in Wordless Wednesday, Wordful Wednesday, and Women Living Well Wednesday. WHEW that is a lot of W's!
These photos were taken yesterday during swim lessons.
The kids are at the end of their first week of two weeks of swim lessons.
I love that they love to be active.
I also want them to be able to do things that I haven't been able to do. (I don't know how to swim but I am hopeful that with a very patient instructor & strength from the Lord that I will some day learn.)
Learning how to be brave in the deep end.
Psalm 56:3-4

When I am afraid, I will trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid.

Mischief in the making
Proverbs 22:6
Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.
I pray that these lessons give him discipline in his future pursuits.

But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired. Isaiah 40: 31
I hope that someday she realizes her strength comes from one source alone

On time Wednesday!

Wordful Wednesday

has moved from the above to here

On Isaac's actual birthday, September 7th, the kids and I made cupcakes to share.
We had his party on the 12th with just a few friends. (I know give me the sob story of the second child.)
Isaac was really not feeling well with a double ear infection and a miserable diaper rash BUT
a little taste of frosting hit the spot!
Isaac LOVES to play and try new things. We have been to this park several times but not since he has become mobile. We went after Kendall's soccer game this past Saturday and he had a blast playing!

I really wanted to find the picture of Ben mowing with his Dad but I don't know where to start looking and I am plain old tired this week. (Esp. since I am mommy & daddy for the week.)
So I am flashing back to this weekend when the family was all together enjoying the cooler weather outside and some yard prep for fall.

Can you tell how much she ENJOYS soccer?
These shots are from the past 2 games against the Kicks & the Hurricanes.

Wednesday (Prepping for Hurricane Earl)

On our second trip back up the mountain to your cabin in TN, we found a turtle about to get squished on the windy mountain road. We scooped him up and brought him back to our cabin for a little bit. Here are the kids enjoying him. We sure do miss the turtles from our yard!

This is a recent memory from Gatlinburg. We went out to eat at a really neat sandwich shop for lunch. The kids were in love with all of the neat trinkets around the resturant. Here is Ben with them by the "big, cool" bear.

1. What insect are you most afraid of? Feel free to post a picture.
SPIDERS! Hands down
2. What is the greenest/most organic thing about you or that you do?
We recycle. I was most of our laundry in cold water. Hmmmm.....we are not very green!
3. Tell me about a recurring dream that haunts you.
I don't think I have any recurring dreams!
4. Have you ever missed a flight? What were the circumstances?
Yes. I was on my way to a formal in New York and I missed my connecting flight in Philadelphia. It was not fun at all!
5. What do you consider your best feature?
Besides my fun personality?! :-) I would say physical feature is my smile.
6. What was the last concert you went to?
Kenny Chesney back in 2005
7. Describe the most embarrassing church moment you ever experienced.
I don't know that I have had an embarrassing moment in church but I can tell you that I have been embarrassed for other people. I am pretty sure now that something embarrassing will happen to me now :-)
8. Are you a whistler, hummer or singer?
A very bad singer!
9. George Washington Carver said, "I love to think of nature as an unlimited broadcasting station, through which God speaks to us every hour, if we will only tune in." What is God saying to you through nature today, or this very minute?
Check out my Wordless Wednesday post below!
10. On September, 1, 1752, the Liberty Bell arrived in Philadelphia. What memorable event will take place in your life on September 1, 2010?
My daughter, Kendall, will have her first soccer practice ever today!
11. Taco Bell or the Liberty Bell? (You must choose.)
Liberty Bell
12. Do you believe men and women can have purely platonic friendships? Yes, I do

I have been taking the kids to the "mommy & me" time at the pool but that is on Wednesday and Friday mornings so Ben can't go. We went to the pool this past Saturday so that Ben could see what a great job Kendall is doing going under water and swimming! Of course they needed to show off some of their jumping abilities too!

Wednesday on a Thursday. (Orders finalized)

Wordless Wednesday
Ok,ok so this might be a little bit wordy. I am pretty verbose most of the time. Before we went fishing during our visit at my parents, I stopped at my great-grandparents grave. This is the first time since my great-grandma passed in 2003 that I have been back. It was nice to clean the grave sight up a little bit & to just reflect a bit.

This is Ben in all his Marine glory :-) He will be up for the August promotions board so he had to take a picture to update his file for the Marines. (Now that doesn't mean that he will be promoted in August, he will have to wait for his number to come up & they only do promotions twice a year so....it's complicated ok! I always feel like I have to explain these crazy, daily life decisions!)
Anyway, we also got the email from his career monitor saying that we have been extended in his current squadron until next summer. Woo hoo! (That is what we were hoping for.....now in December we will have to make some very hard decisions on what we will be doing next summer. It very well might include moving us far from our church, home, friends, & everything else that we have built up here over the last 6+ years.) Regardless of what next summer holds I am content to know that we are here for another year and that God will lead us where we need to be next. (For all of those family member reading this post, we really don't have any favorites right now so everything will be told in time!)

Kendall crawled into bed with me this morning. She does that every so often when she wakes up early. One of my favorite quiet times with the kids is my own individual cuddle time with them. I was reflecting on that and wanted to share. I think that this is the only picture that I have of either kids and me cuddling. This picture was taken September of 2008 in the hospital after Isaac was born.

A special Wednesday message

A Very Happy Birthday to my sweet baby girl!
It seems like just yesterday that I was bringing you home from the hospital. You were so tiny, so new. I was so nervous of what to do with you. Now you stand before me, a little lady full of thoughts and opinions of your own.
Happy 4th Birthday Kendall Bug!
We love you so much!!

What Is A Daughter
© Jack
She’s a joy she’s an angel’ well that’s what she thinks
She clings on to your heart like a plug to a sink
She drives you all crazy with make believe games
She’ll have you believe that fairies fly planes

She often comes in with imaginary friends
And can draw on their dads with permanent pens
She has pretty parties with dolls as her mates
But then runs straight out and she swings on the gate

She listens to stories of love and romance
Then shoves a live frog in her best friends pants
At night when asleep the angels go quiet
I often do think that she could start a riot

She looks like a princess all said and done
And Uses mums lipstick to draw a big sun
All over the walls and down the settee
Her face is alive and she giggles with glee

Its then that you have to be strong and quite firm
For if you stand back she will never quite learn
And learn things she does most every day
She learns how to get thing her very own way

She came into your life and captured your heart
And then from that time you won’t stay apart
You may keep your son till he finds a good wife
But your daughters your daughter for all of her life

A mother's love for her child is like
nothing else in the world. It knows no
law, no pity, it dares all things and crushes
down remorselessly all that stands in its path.
