A man's perspective....

Coming soon to a blog (this one!) near you........
Ben is going to be in California for a little bit starting next week sometime. So I asked him if he would mind putting a few posts on here and there to get his version of what life is like away from us. I am sure that y'all will be able to tell the differences :-)

I had a busy morning today. I left Isaac with my friend Kelly & dropped Kendall off at PMO so that I could go to coffee for Ben's squadron. (This may not seem like it is much but did I mention that it is a 52 mile drive each way?) I am excited to say that I have been chosen to help out with some volunteer work for the squadron. I think that it is a wonderful opportunity for me to help & give back so I am thrilled that I was selected for it. After about an hour & a half, I had to drive back here to get Kendall & Isaac. Whew! Thanks again Kelly!!

As for the rest of the week, I am still working on my ladies bible study for Thursday, the personal bible study that Kelly and I are going to complete, of course our homework for our small group on Friday night, & the MOUNTAINS of clean laundry begging to be put away.

I am going to be pursuing another way to keep my nursing skills up as it doesn't appear that there will be enough hours at the oncology clinic that I have been at for the past 4.5 years. I ask that you please pray for an opportunity to open up for that!

I also wanted to take the time to wish Laura and Andy a great 2 weeks together! I hope the time passes slowly & enjoy every second together! Andy be safe upon your return!

Happy Birthday to Kristen tomorrow!

Not Me Monday!

I did not tell Kendall that if you picked your nose and ate it that worms come out of your butt. (Thanks Melissa!!)
I have not tried to feed Isaac an extra tub of baby food so that I can get a few more hours of sleep in between feedings.
I absolutely did not gag when I changed Isaac's squash/sweet potatoe/carrots diaper the other day.
I did not let Kendall take a shower with me so it would be one less bath to do.
I didn't send Kendall to her daddy with a runny nose to wipe because all the snot was grossing me out!
I am not ordering Potty Patty for Kendall because she has defeated me in the potty training realm.

The News

Isaac has finally cut his first tooth! Now if he will go back to sleeping through the night we will all be as happy as he is in this picture!
Kendall has decided she likes to feed her baby and bring her everywhere like I do with Isaac. She has also decided that she will breast feed when I do as well!
The dogs now vie for position closest to the food left over on Isaac's mouth.
My crafty husband strikes again. He built the first of our storage benches/toy boxes for our bonus room.
We did our part to stimulate the economy this past weekend and purchased this futon in place of the bed in the bonus room so we have more play room for the kids.

Happy V-day & President's day!

Hi all!
So happy belated Valentine's day and happy president's day. I decided to take some of the quiet time while Ben is working on the kids toy box, kendall is watching her tv show, & Isaac is sleeping to work on the blog.

We have had a great weekend so far (Ben still has tomorrow off.) We went to a field day/family day for Ben's squadron on Friday. It was fun to see the guys goof around & work out together. I also had a great time getting to know a few more wives. It is always interesting to meet new people and learn their lives.

Saturday, Ben helped our friends move from their apartment out in town to base housing. We are so excited for them as now they can work on their nursery! We exchanged our v-day gifts & relaxed a home with the kiddos. Benny outdid himself this time :-)

Sunday Ben filled in and taught our Sunday school class. He did a great job even though I think he was pretty nervous about it. Our new pastor is phenomenal. Our church has grown to 1400 people on our services now. There are lots of changes coming that I am pretty excited about. I am sure that I will let you know as they come about.

Today we have spent working at the house and doing errands in town. It's too nice to have Ben home.....makes us wish we were independently wealthy so we could hang out together all the time!

Here is the semi-finished stepping stone of the year. Ben started this tradition in 2006. We made our first stepping stone and decided to keep up the tradition. This one says, "May the stars light your way." Since "tinkle" stars are Kendall's new favorite we went with this theme.

Kendall mugging for the camera.

My two most favorite little valentines. For those that have known me all of my life.... does Kendall's pose look at all familiar?

Wet cement is so much fun to work with.....

Daddy and Kendall bug hard at work!

Kendall's Korner & Isaac's Inch by inch

Kendall helping Isaac out with tummy time. He always seems like he has some place to go but no way to get there...I don't think that it will be too long until he is on the move some way or other!
Kendall loves her baby brother and is very protective of him even from us!
A smoosh for Isaac.
Kendall showing Isaac how it's done. I think he is thinking....why is she getting the good stuff?

Kendall has been doing very well with all of her activities. She has been learning many new words and phrases. I think that both Ben's and my favorite is "all day." She adds it to about every sentence. For example, "mom....dad yells at me, all day." Hee,hee. We have been binky free for over 2 months now. She sometimes asks for it when she sees Isaac's & then tells us "I know we go store, get me new one." Potty training......hmmmm....what can I say but it is slow going. I believe relatively similar to our niece, Naomi's, potty training experience. She is always thrilled to play with her friends. It is getting nicer now so it will be fun to get to the park again with our playground pals.

Isaac......wow he is growing so fast! He has now sampled rice cereal, squash, and sweet potatoes. He will only take a bottle for juice no milk! He is constantly on the move (Much like his father!) so the exersaucer & jumperoo have been coming in handy. He has rolled over several times thus creating a little bit of a safety hazard. He also has been sitting himself up a lot esp. if it has to do with his food! He will go in March for his 6 month well check!

Behind the times....

Ok so I was sick last week and majorly slacked on my blogging time. I am trying to make up for it by getting some of the recent events up here!
Kendall learned that you don't have to just sit on Geronimo when he is laying down. It is also fun to jump off of the coffee table onto his back when he is standing! What a good sport he has been! I can only imagine what Isaac will put him through.
Isaac has been enjoying standing in his exersaucer and now bouncy in his jumperoo.
Isaac turned 5 months old!
Isaac got his first bite of cereal on 02/02/09! His face says it all. He really likes squash now.

HAPPY Birthday Uncle Anthony!!
CONGRATULATIONS Lee and Claire :-)

Not Me! Monday!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

Thanks to Lindsay for introducing me to Not Me! Monday.
I did not let Isaac suck on his fingers and/or thumb just because it keeps him quiet for a few moments of peace.
I did not let Kendall fall alseep to her t.v. just because it avoids a confrontation right before bedtime and I was too tired to do battle.
I did not sleep on the couch so that I could put Isaac in his swing to get a few restless hours of sleep.
Not once last week did I bathe Kendall (leaving Isaac's bath to my wonderful hubby) because it is easier to do her bath than Isaac's.
I never smell a burp cloth to see if I can get one more use out of it before throwing it in the wash.
I always put the folded laundry away the same day that I folded it in the first place. Which has never lead to finding an outfit that Isaac has only worn once and already has grown out of.
I did not stand in the shower and make the 30 second debate of whether I needed to shave my legs or wash my hair.
NOT ME!!!

National Anthem

THE NATIONAL ANTHEM

The Star Spangled Banner like you've never heard it before!

The two young ladies on the right are six years old. The two in the middle are seven and the one on the left is eight. This happened at a Texas Tech University Basketball game . . . The National Anthem sung by five very young ladies. An entire arena remains completely silent throughout the performance. You could hear a pin drop. Take a moment to listen to this.

Isaac's dedication

It was a beautiful service and we were so glad to have several friends there with us to witness Isaac's dedication. Our new pastor, Jason, made a few cracks about Isaac so it was up to par with Kendall's dedication. Hope you enjoy!

"boy-friends"

Kendall loves to play with her all of her friends, but she has a special soft spot for these two. I decided to post a few pictures of her "boyfriends" Brodi & Colbi.
