Camera experts (I need your advice!!)

Hey photography, camera, picture lovers!
I need your advice......I am trying to save to buy a quality digital camera and would like your opinion on what you like best, quality, price, shooting capability, etc.....
I have looked at several different cameras but if you have any others that you like besides what I have listed let me know!
Thanks y'all!
P.S. I am looking for something that is easy to pick up and shoot quick shots of the kids, quality photos, but also with the ability to change out some settings so I am not just on the "auto" portion all the time!

The list so far.....
canon powershot sx20
nikon coolpix p90
olympus stylus sp-590
Pentax K-x Navy 12.4MP Digital SLR
Olympus Evolt E-620 Black 12.3MP DSLR

I haven't tried any of those cameras. I just recently purchased a Nikon d90, but I still have a LOT to learn about it! A couple of my friends that are professional photographers use the D90. I was going to get the Nikon 3000, which I hear is a lot better for someone starting out. Good luck! I hope you find the right camera for you! :)

Jamie,
I am partial to Canons. I have not personally used any of those cameras but the only advice I have is to use it a little in the store and see if you like how it works. Some cameras take forever to fire and some don't have a good display. Also, remember if you buy and don't like it, take it back and try something else. You want to be happy with your purchase.

Me again! I just remembered that I have heard some good things about the Canon S90! Good luck camera shopping.
