We have the second week of training under our belts! The third week ushers in Ben coming home so we are thrilled!!What we have been up to....
Kendall and Isaac had spirit and silly holiday hat day at school. (They both lost their brand new spirit sweatshirts within 48 hours of getting them!!)
We worked together to make shrimp scampi and brownies!Kendall and Isaac both had their first alone shopping experience (their school had the shop) and they worked together to wrap their gifts for the family. I can't wait to see what they got everyone!
Kymber is finding new things to play with around the house. Even if mommy doesn't want her in them!I worked on a few things for Kenzie. It makes me happy to start a few thing for our sweet girl! On my to do list, is this Texas A&M blanket
December is here....normally my favorite time of year except for what it means this year. It brings only spending 7 days this month with Benny.
It brings next month very close and a very hard goodbye
It brings a sea of tan and camo...
We didn't do anything crazy but just hung as a family before taking Ben to leave for training. We went on a rainy day to see Frozen.
Daddy had a sleepover with the girls since Isaac was at a neighborhood sleepover for the boys.Kymber was a big helper in packingAnd snuggling And of course bikes were woked on and fixed
Ben completed his first 50 mile running race on November 17th this year. It was in Maryland. At some point, I hope to have a link to share on the history of it because it is pretty neat!
Ben and his partner Phillip suffered through a few rough patches but really didn't have any major complications with the race!
Ben completed the race in 9 hours and 10 minutes.
He was 242/967 overall and 77/195 for his age bracket.
We are so proud of his most recent adventure!
Following Ben's training for his JFK 50? This past weekend he completed 31.5 miles. That is supposed to be the longest run before the race in November.
This weekend they will run a practice marathon in Greensboro as "warm up." stay tuned for some pictures from it!
It's hard to believe that Ben has only run one marathon competitively but in this training, he has run a marathon every weekend for the past 5 weeks!
I get so focused on recording important moments in the kids lives that I often forget to get updates on the core of our family.
Adults are just so boring right?!?
Not in Ben's case! He has been steadily training for a 50 mile race in November. No not a bike race....a running race. Crazy right?! We have heard it all and I even tell him how crazy he is every weekend when he goes out for his "long run."
(This weekend's long run was 25 miles.)
He and his training partner will be doing a "warm-up" marathon on October 6th.
I will post soon on the fundraising that they are doing for our local shelter through their racing!
Here are a few shots from their 10 mile jog on Topsail beach.
