Wednesday

Wordless Wednesday (Daddy's home!)

Wordful Wednesday

I thought that I would share a day at the "office" for my hubby. The front 2 aircraft are the ones that he flies. This was for a MEU homecoming awhile back. (He wasn't actually flying in this shot.) Every time I see him fly, I am kind of amazed 1. that the huey actually stays in the air and 2. that it is actually my hubby at the controls!

Thanks to Staci at
http://ramblingmilitarywife.blogspot.com/ for this award! I just started following Staci's blog recently but love to read her posts!

Ok let's see 7 things about myself. (This gets harder and harder to find things to put on here so bear with me!)

  1. I am still battling against an injury that I got when I was pregnant with my son. I fell down the stairs & nothing has been right since then!
  2. My first relay triathlon is coming up in August. I am beyond nervous that I am going to do something stupid like pass out on the trail!
  3. I named my dog "Jordan" because I wanted to name my first born girl that but knew that I was FAR from having a husband & child at the time.
  4. I try to call my parents (used to just be my mom but now my dad is retired so I can pester them both.) every day. It's hard being away from them & I don't think I really grasped that until I became pregnant with my first.
  5. I used to love to go hunting and fishing with most of my male relatives. I am thrilled that my daughter wants to go fishing with my hubby & dad when we go to PA this summer.
  6. My grandparents have been married for over 60 years & I don't think I have every heard them fight. (Little bickerings but not a fight.) I hope that Ben and I make it to 60 years!
  7. I have two degrees (Nursing and Psychology) but I am really still looking to go back to complete a certificate program in Christian Women's counseling. I am still praying on it and making sure it is the right thing to do for our family (and of course that the Marine Corps will pay for it!)

Well there you go! If you regularly read here and want this award it is yours for the taking! Hope you are having a blessed Wednesday!

Blog award

Thanks to Maria at www.personalizedsketchesandsentiments.blogspot.com/ for my newest award! Maria found my blog awhile back and her comments always make me smile. She is a phemonal artist and I bought Ben a sketch for our anniversary back in December. Go check out her blog and ETSY shop!
The rules are you must list 10 things about yourself. And of course pass along this award. I am leaving it out there for all of you who read my blog :-)
  1. I am feeling tons better from my sinus infection....can you tell by the amount of blogs I posted today?! :-)
  2. I have been missing getting a frog once a year from my hubby. (He started awhile back surprising me with some sort of frog gift every year but sadly forgot last year! Anything from a frog charm to singing frogs etc. And no frogs aren't my favorite animal but....)
  3. We have been using a new discpline strategy on Kendall that I think is working very well. I am nervous that all our hard work will go out the window when my husband is gone on his detachment.
  4. I LOVE jewelry......It's been very fun to see my collection (both real and costume) grow!
  5. I am still trying my hardest to remember some signs and teach them to my children. My secret ambition is to eventually take a class and be able to translate like my mother in law.
  6. I am from Western Pennsylvania but do not like snow!!! (Except on the small versions that we get here in the South)
  7. I really miss my 1 day a week nursing job. I LOVE staying at home with the kids don't get me wrong but my patients are always such an inspiration to me.....I've been missing that.
  8. My parents are coming to visit me over Easter to keep me company while Ben is gone! (And to go to the Easter egg hunts and help the kids grab the goods!)
  9. I am hoping to complete my digital scrapbooking for the kids first year while Ben is gone. (I also want to work on Kendall's journal, their baby books, and their "time capsule" too!)
  10. I recently rededicated my life to Christ by getting baptized again at our church.

Atta girl award!

I discovered Atta girl from a friend of mine here in Jacksonville. I really liked the concept behind it so I asked for a few for Christmas. (They are kind of on the pricey side so I wasn't holding out much hope!) I got my first one from my mother and father in law. I thought that I would pass this along to all of my military real life friends and bloggy world friends. These are like the Italian charm bracelets and are approximately the size of 2 of those together. You receive an "award" similar to those that your spouse recieves with each new ribbon that they achieve. (Honoring the ones who hold down the homefront....)It comes in a pretty blue box (not Tiffany's but doesn't it get you excited;-)?!) with a certificate.
The top one on my list was the "Had a baby on Deployment" achievement because I feel that anyone who can accomplish this feat has only the sky as their limit!! This is what my charm looks like and I proudly wear it on a chain right now. (That's right you can convert them into a pendant too!)

*****************************************

My certificate reads........
IN RECOGNITION OF HEROIC DUTY ON THE HOME FRONT INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO
Feeling like you were the only one there to hear your baby's first cry
The long nights made even longer because you were alone
Because your baby's little nose and beautiful eyes look just like your husband's, if only he were there to see them
Despite everyone coming to visit and help with the baby, the only one you wanted to see was your husband
Because two should be playing this game, not one
Your exceptional skills in strategic planning in preparing for the birth
The courage it took to feel labor coming on; knowing that you would do this without your husband's arms around you
And despite all of this, you can still laugh
FOR THIS AND SO MUCH MORE, WE HONOR YOU.

*******************************

Color meaning:
First and Last Crystals - Because you deserve
diamonds for this achievement!
Rose - was your baby a girl?
Crystal - for the love you have for your child
Aquamarine - or was your baby a boy?
