Making it home: one find at a time (a special edition of volume 1)

So I could have included this in my original volume 1 post, but I felt that it was special enough to warrant it's own post.
My sweet mom-in-law always finds a special way to repurpose items. This year she out did herself and made all the female grandchildren  (7 of 9) a special apron. The main section of blue fabric is from my brother in law's navy uniforms. Each fabric that is on them has a special memory attached with it too.
So thankful that my girls have these and share this memory with their cousins!

The letter that accompanied the aprons, explaining them.

Making it home: one find at a time (volume 1)

No big secret, we have moved a lot in our 14 years of marriage. I have a few pieces of decor that I always want to keep and then it's also fun to add new pieces!
Ben and the kids gave me this rustic shelf and window frame for Christmas that they found out antiquing.
I had Ben change out the decor on one wall in our dining room so that I could combine them together.
I am still looking for shutters to go on either side of the window and decor to compliment the combination for the shelf. I will probably get it perfect then it will be time to leave again.
Here is the first project of the year!

Old decor...new house

So like most folks, we have decor that moves with us from house to house. You know that makes it feel like home! This is one of those pieces. And of course we add to it with each new duty station too! I love to support other WAHM businesses so I just wanted to give a shout out to Perfectly Distressed. I have had many compliments over the years on this particular decor piece. I ordered the new board before we left California and it was waiting for us at the new house!
If you want to check our her pieces, you can do so at.....

Marriage Advice for my kiddos

Marriage is giving of yourself tirelessly down paths you’d never imagine to travel. Through sickness and pain, poverty and loss, it’s carrying the weight of another. It’s being the smile they see in the morning, and the body they hold close at night. It’s pure love. It’s standing together in the face of adversity. It’s riding alongside each other in a battle that threatens to tear down your marriage and seeks to grab hold of your faith. It’s strength under pressure.
~TimeWarpWife

I read this in my devotional a few days ago and wanted to make sure to blog it for our family journal. It is great wisdom my sweet kiddos. Don't ever forget it or take it for granted.
You don't always have to agree on every small thing but as long as you are on  the same page for your big picture you can make it through those battles.
Love,
Mom
